Clinical Examination Tutorial Convenor – Antara Nahian
Hiya guys! My name’s Tara and I’ a second year medical student from Auckland, NZ. This year, I’ll be taking on the role of Clinical Examination Tutorial convenor which means I’ll be working with Hannah, our Academic VP, to bring the much loved CETs to this year’s crop of first years. The CETs were a great learning experience for me last year and this year we hope to make it bigger and better than ever! I’m really looking forward to everything we have planned for this year and I hope I’ll see all of you there!
Community Outreach Convenor – Shima Bakhtiary
Hello all! I’m Shima, a first year medical student from Vancouver, Canada. I am delighted to take on the role of SWIM Community Outreach Officer this year. In this capacity, I assist with organizing community events such as Ronald McDonald House night, Micah volunteering and other fundraising opportunities.
As such, I hope you all come and join us in these wonderful journeys. Medicine can be challenging at times, and being involved in a community of women supporting each other is truly a gift. Looking forward to a great year ahead!
Guest Speaker Convenor – Chloe Yap
Greetings! I’m Chloe and I’m a first year medical student, born and bred in the Bane of Bris! This year, I’ll be doing my best to organise a stellar line-up of inspiring guest speakers for the Women in Medicine and CET events.
During my relapses of realisation that keeping up with this thing called “medicine” is futile, you’ll probably find me playing my cello, Charlie, or maybe escaping for a walk in the bush. Hope to see you around!
Fitness Program Convenor – Lauren Roth
Hey everyone! I’m Lauren, a second year from Boston, USA and your 2017 Fitness Program Convenor. As a former sports enthusiast turned into fitness professional, I am very excited to bring my love of fitness to SWIM community. My job is to organize various exercise activities to help keep your blood pumping and your stress levels lower. We all know that exercise is a great thing, but with the busy life of a med student it doesn’t always seem feasible.
Inspired by the success of our yoga program, we are hoping to bring in a few more activities to help keep your modifiable risk factors in check and you entertained. All you need to do is show up (and bring a water bottle). Can’t wait to see you there!
